SERENDAH: MCE Holdings Bhd expects its newly launched MCE Auto Hub here to accelerate Malaysia’s transition towards higher-value automotive manufacturing by strengthening local capabilities in the design, engineering and production of advanced automotive electronics.

Group managing director Dr Goh Kar Chun said the facility will support the growing demand for next-generation mobility solutions while enabling the localisation of advanced automotive technologies in Malaysia in line with the stringent quality and precision standards required by global automakers.

He said the MCE Auto Hub will produce a growing range of automotive electronics, including infotainment systems, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), electronic control units (ECUs) and smart cockpit solutions, serving both local and global markets.

"As vehicles become increasingly connected and software-driven, the electronic components within them must be produced in highly controlled, dust-free environments that meet the highest standards of quality and precision.

"The MCE Auto Hub was built for exactly that purpose,” he said in his speech at the MCE Auto Hub grand opening, launched by Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani here today.

Goh said the company aims to move beyond conventional assembly into higher-value activities such as design, engineering and advanced manufacturing, in line with the aspirations of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030 (NIMP 2030) and the National Automotive Policy 2020.

He said MCE currently employs more than 80 engineers, with over half dedicated to research and development, and will continue investing in specialised talent to support the development of advanced automotive technologies.

"MCE supplies electronics and mechatronic components not only to Malaysia’s national carmakers but also to customers across ASEAN and the United States, reflecting the capability of Malaysian engineering and innovation to compete internationally.

"MCE is already working with local integrated circuit (IC) design houses and technology partners, integrating their technologies into our products and helping them participate in the automotive supply chain,” he added.

The MCE Auto Hub represents the first phase of a RM50 million investment in an advanced Industry 4.0-ready manufacturing facility, with plans to expand investments to RM200 million over the next decade as the company strengthens its long-term commitment to future mobility and Malaysia’s automotive ecosystem.

Goh said the construction of the facility began two years ago following its groundbreaking ceremony, with today’s official launch marking the completion of the project.

Looking ahead, he said MCE sees the Auto Hub as a catalyst for deepening Malaysia’s local supply chain, encouraging greater participation by Malaysian companies in higher-value activities, generating export revenue and building a stronger automotive electronics cluster.

Goh said MCE remains committed to helping shape the future of Malaysia’s automotive industry by growing alongside industry partners, suppliers and manufacturers in building a more competitive and innovative ecosystem.

"We believe the future of Malaysia's automotive industry will be built through stronger collaboration between carmakers, Tier-1 suppliers and local ecosystem players, including semiconductor and electrical and electronic companies.

"Working together, we can create more opportunities for Malaysian-developed technologies to be integrated into automotive applications and supply chains, while strengthening Malaysia's position as a regional hub for automotive electronics,” he added. - Bernama
