Akbar Moidunny re-elected as MAICSA president for 2025–2026

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA) has re-elected Datuk Akbar Moidunny as president for the 2025–2026 term at a recent council meeting held on June 21.

The Council also confirmed the re-election of the office bearers for the new term, including Dipak Kaur as deputy president, Dr Nandita Choudhury as vice president, Assoc Prof Noorbijan Abu Bakar as honorary secretary, Lee Mi Ryoung as honorary treasurer, and Simon Yeoh as immediate past president.

MAICSA chief executive officer Justin J Anthony, in a statement, said the reappointments reflect the Council’s confidence in its current strategy.

He added that MAICSA remains committed to supporting Chartered Secretaries and Governance Professionals in a changing corporate landscape.

Akbar, with over 38 years of leadership experience as group chairman and CEO of the MINC Group, brings extensive expertise in corporate advisory, restructuring, and governance consultancy in both local and international markets.

His return as president reinforces MAICSA’s focus on strategic relevance, professional excellence, and national service.

“MAICSA must evolve beyond being a professional body. It must be the recognised voice of authority in corporate governance, boardroom ethics, and company secretarial leadership. Our role is not only regulatory, but also developmental – in building ethical leaders, enhancing institutional resilience, and steering corporations towards long-term, sustainable growth,” Akbar said.
