Rohas wins dispute against Bangladesh firm

PETALING JAYA: Rohas Tecnic Bhd’s 86.8% owned-subsidiary, HG Power Transmission Sdn Bhd (HGPT) has partially won in its dispute against Power Grid Company of Bangladesh Ltd (PGCB).

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the utility infrastructure provider said PGCB was ordered to pay them US$1.89mil (about RM8.4mil) out of the claimed sum. PGCB is Bangladesh’s power grid operator.

It said HGPT initiated an arbitration process in October 2022 for US$5.52mil (RM24.5mil) when PGCB disputed a large portion of HGPT’s invoices relating to price variations as well as additional claims for the supply and installation of 132 kilovolt (kV) and 230kV transmission lines in Bangladesh under the International Chamber of Commerce rules.
