Solarvest partners with Fajarbaru for Medi-city's green infrastructure

KUALA LUMPUR: Solarvest Holdings Bhd has signed a collaboration agreement with FBG Land Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Fajarbaru Builder Group Bhd (FBG), to jointly develop the net-zero Medi-city in Batu Kawan, Penang.

The Medi-city project is part of a 235.8-acre development by FBG and Penang Development Corporation (PDC). Phase 1, covering 51.2 acres with a RM2bil gross development value, will include a 200-bed hospital, medical office space, and mixed-use developments.

In a statement, Solarvest said the partnership reflects a collective commitment to sustainable development for the Medi-city project, with Solarvest leading the green infrastructure development to make the township energy-efficient and net-zero.

Solarvest will explore the feasibility of incorporating clean energy solutions into Medi-city properties, including solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, EV fleets, energy efficiency measures, battery storage systems, and green attributes trading.

Solarvest will supply and install solar photovoltaic systems across Medicity’s buildings and facilities, empowering energy transformation from the beginning of operation.

Additionally, Solarvest will offer flexible and tailored solar financing options, allowing property owners to adopt solar energy with zero capital expenditure while benefiting from long-term energy cost savings.

“The Medi-city project presents a unique opportunity for us to showcase our comprehensive green infrastructure capabilities, helping key developments like Medi-City achieve carbon neutrality.

“This partnership is setting a precedent for sustainable medical hub, and highlights the synergy between property developers and clean energy infrastructure provider, bringing to life - a township that epitomises environmental stewardship,” executive director and group CEO Davis Chong.

Separately, FBG has also entered into strategic collaboration agreements with PDC and several key partners which includes Pelaburan Hartanah Bhd (PHB), KJTS Group Bhd and Cellaax Sdn Bhd to explore collaborative opportunities to spearhead the development of this 235.8-acre project.

As part of their respective roles, PHB will explore the development of facilities such as an international school, wellness centre, and other healthcare infrastructures, while KJTS will collaborate to create a highly energy-efficient and cost-effective district cooling system. Cellaax will also collaborate to establish a stem cell facility, further enhancing the medical hub ecosystem.
