MCE, Chuhang ink MoU to develop automated driving radar

KUALA LUMPUR: MCE Holdings Bhd via its wholly-owned subsidiary MCE Ventures Sdn Bhd is exploring a collaboration with Nanjing Chuhang Technology Co Ltd to exclusively develop, manufacture and market automotive millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar from Malaysia.

It said the product will cater for global markets, excluding China.

mmWave radar technology is an essential component for advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) and automated driving applications, enabling vehicles to detect and respond to their surroundings with precision and reliability.

Under the memorandum of understanding (MoU), the parties will form a new company to leverage their combined strengths, opening up new market opportunities and allowing both companies to diversify their business prospects in automotive electronics and advanced technologies.

Chuhang, a pioneer in mmWave sensing radar technology, will bring its technical expertise to the venture, including technology transfer, product development support, and assistance in establishing a production line in Malaysia.

Meanwhile, MCE will establish the manufacturing facility at its upcoming MCE Auto Hub in Serendah, set to be operational by the second half of next year. The group said it will also leverage its extensive network to tap into opportunities in domestic and overseas markets.

"This venture marks another milestone in our efforts to provide a comprehensive range of technologically sophisticated products that cater to the growing demands of local and overseas markets, while benefiting from Chuhang’s expertise in cutting-edge radar technologies," said MCE group managing director Goh Kar Chun in a statement.
