AZRB redesignates Wan Zakariah as chairman

PETALING JAYA: Ahmad Zaki Resources Bhd (AZRB) has redesignated its executive vice chairman Datuk Seri Wan Zakariah Wan Muda, to the position of chairman.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, AZRB said the redesignation comes following the resignation of its non-executive chairman Tan Sri Dr Madinah Mohamad, who is stepping down to pursue personal interests.

“Wan Zakariah (66) is a director and shareholder of AZRB. Datuk Wan Zulkifli Wan Muda, who is also an executive director and shareholder of AZRB, is the brother of Wan Zakariah.

“Accordingly, Wan Zakariah and W. Zulkifli are related by virtue of their sibling relationship.”

AZRB added that Wan Zakariah holds 5.32 million direct shares in the company, representing 0.8%, and 27,000 indirect shares representing negligible equity interest.

Meanwhile, Madinah joined the board in 2021 and served as auditor-general from February 2017 until the expiry of her contract in 2019.
