UEM Group chairman Datuk Hisham Hamdan.

PETALING JAYA: UEM Group Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Bhd, has appointed Datuk Hisham Hamdan as chairman and Datuk Amran Hafiz Affifudin as managing director (MD) effective immediately.

In a statement, UEM Group said the change in leadership follows the departure of Datuk Mohd Izani Ghani who stepped down as MD on July 31, 2024 after five years of service.

Hisham, who joined Khazanah in April 2011, is currently its chief investment officer and responsible for managing and growing Khazanah’s multi-mandate and multi-asset portfolio.

Hisham holds dual degrees in chemical engineering and industrial management from Purdue University in the United States and has also completed the Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Programme.

Amran’s career began in 1997 with Petroliam Nasional Bhd in corporate finance and treasury functions. He then transitioned to the private equity industry before joining Khazanah in 2011.
