Proton sales climb 17.1% in April

PETALING JAYA: Proton Holdings Bhd registered sales of 11,025 units in April, a 17.1% increase over the year, on the back of increased domestic demand.

In a statement, the national carmaker said sales totalled 50,175 units in the first four months of the year, which was higher than the 49,702 units sold in the same period in 2023.

Proton said the total industry volume for the local automotive market also grew to an estimated 59,100 units in April and a cumulative total of 261,345 units for the year.

According to Proton, its market share was estimated at 18.7% in April, while year-to-date market share is forecast at 19.2%, which maintained its No. 2 position in the national automotive sales rankings.

The carmaker said its improved sales performance was partly attributed to ongoing demand for the Proton S70, which continued to lead sales for C-segment sedans with 1,635 units sold in April.
