Velesto appoints Alan Hamzah Sendut as director


KUALA LUMPUR: Velesto Energy Bhd has appointed Alan Hamzah Sendut as an independent and non-executive director effective Feb 8.

Alan, 63, has over 35 years of finance and business experience across multiple industries, approximately 25 years of which were in C-suite and senior manager roles.

Velesto, in a filing with Bursa Malaysia, said Alan had served in companies involved in motor and heavy equipment distribution, manufacturing, plantations, corporate services, corporate strategy and business development.

He started his career in 1982 with Price Waterhouse London. He has worked for various companies including Shell Companies in Malaysia, CarnaudMetalbox Malaysia, BHP Billiton, and Sime Darby Bhd.

Alan served as an independent non-executive director in Tradewinds Plantation Bhd (2021 to 2023). He currently serves as an independent non-executive director of Hong Leong Islamic Bank Bhd (2016 to date) and as an independent non-executive director of Hengyuan Refining Co Bhd (2017 to date). He has been a Trustee for Cancer Research Malaysia since 2011.

He holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Accountancy and Computer Science from the University of Wales, United Kingdom. He is a Chartered Accountant (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales) by profession.
