PayNet, Ant Group collaboration set to tap into huge inbound travel growth

KUALA LUMPUR: Payments Network Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PayNet) and Ant Group's Alipay+ are set to reap overwhelming growth from inbound tourism as they gear ahead of the travel season via e-wallets support from eight countries.

These are Ant Group's Alipay from the Chinese mainland; AlipayHK (Hong Kong); HelloMoney (the Philippines); Hipay (Mongolia); Mpay (Macau); Naver Pay (South Korea); Toss Pay (South Korea), and TrueMoney from Thailand.

PayNet group chief executive officer Farhan Ahmad said this collaboration is set to facilitate the visits of the targeted 23.5 million international tourist arrivals leading up to Visit Malaysia Year 2026.

"This collaboration could not have materialised at a better time as the Malaysian tourism industry is back on a steady growth path and will be further energised by Visit Malaysia in 2026," he said at the launch of the cross-border digital payment collaboration here, today.

He said, with the partnership, travellers with supported wallets can immediately utilise PayNet's DuitNow QR at 1.8 million merchant touchpoints nationwide from Oct 31 onwards. - Bernama
