More growth and value forecast for tech stocks

Ambrose: Investors should look at the quality, valuation and good governance of a company.

AS anyone with a little experience and knowledge of Bursa Malaysia would know, the banking sector makes up the largest proportion of the local bourse – just over a quarter in terms of market capitalisation – followed by the consumer products and industrial services segments, with respective shares of 16.2% and 13.4% of the local equity pie.

Meanwhile, as at October 2022, the technology sector, always touted as the “exciting” industry with enormous growth potential, took up only 4.2% of Bursa Malaysia’s total market capitalisation of RM1.6 trillion, with companies such as Inari Amertron Bhd, Vitrox Corp Bhd and MyEG Services Bhd among its leaders.
