NOT many will remember that when Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was released from prison in 2004, he was barred from contesting in any election as a Member of Parliament.
Hence, when the 2008 or the 12th General Election (GE12) was called, he was only able to take to the streets with his rallying cry “A New Dawn for Malaysia” – one that helped his coalition of political alliance break Barisan Nasional’s two-thirds share of Parliament seats and winning five key states.
