PETALING JAYA: Datuk Pang Chin Hin, the founder of Mamee-Double Decker Sdn Bhd, passed away on Nov 5.

The 96-year-old leaves behind three sons and three daughters with his late wife, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, according to reports.

Mamee’s story began in 1971, when Pang and his partner started a small factory in Melaka that manufactures instant noodles.

Production began in 1972 with the release of Mamee’s first-ever product, Lucky instant noodle and vermicelli.

According to Mamee-Double Decker’s website, Pang launched Mamee noodle snack in 1974 after his son, Tan Sri Pang Tee Chew, noticed rubber tappers eating uncooked instant noodles straight from the pack.

Mamee-Double Decker now has more than 50 items ranging from instant noodles, Monster snack noodles, Mister Potato, and Double Decker.
