Telco projects give Mestron's order book a boost

KUALA LUMPUR: Mestron Holdings Bhd has exceeded expectations after recording orders of RM17.5mil in the first five months of the year, in line with the implementation of the national digital infrastructure plan (Jendela).

In a statement, the lighting infrastructure company said its improved order book was owing to the rollout of telecommunications infrastructure, with job wins secured from various customers including Smartgen Technology Sdn Bhd, Hytro Vista Sdn Bhd and OCK Setia Engineering Sdn Bhd.

The projects that Mestron was awarded during the first five months of 2022 was under the Jendela Phase 1 project and are expected to be delivered by August 2022.

"We are excited about the group’s prospects as we have seen a sharp improvement in our order books during the first five months of this year.

"The pickup of these orders are supported by the faster rollout of the telco projects following the reopening of the economy," said Mestron managing director Por Teong Eng.

He added that the growing momentum in the rollout of 5G will benefit Mestron, which generated its revenue mainly from the sales of its standard poles and speciality poles within the telco segment.

According to Por, Mestron targets to win another RM20mil worth of contracts over the next six months from the telco segment.

He expects the group’s strong order book to sustain revenue growth for the rest of the financial year ending Dec 31, 2022.
