AirAsia aims to raise RM2.5bil and to evaluate Japan operations


Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said AirAsia could raise up to RM1.5bil from bank loans and a further RM1bil from investors.

KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Group Bhd is looking to raise as much as RM2.5bil by year-end, and is also reviewing its business in Japan as the airline seeks to weather the Covid-19 crisis, its chief executive said yesterday.

Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes told Reuters that the group, Malaysia’s flagship budget airline, could raise up to RM1.5bil from bank loans and a further RM1bil from investors.
