Millennial retail investors rise amidst Covid-19


In a research note yesterday, it said 78% of the new accounts were opened by investors aged 45 years and below, adding that millennials currently make up 36% of total CDS account holders.

KUALA LUMPUR: The rise of millennial retail investors and adoption of online trading by Malaysian retail investors are positive trends for retail trading activities, said CGS-CIMB Research.

The research house said that Bursa saw a 125% year-on-year (y-o-y) increase in new central depository system (CDS) account openings in the first seven months of 2020 (7M20).
