11MP Mid Term Review: Fiscal deficit targeted to be at 3% to GDP in 2020


As e-commerce and activities related to sharing economy are on the rise, the Government will explore imposing tax on these online transactions.

KUALA LUMPUR: The Federal Government expects the during the transition period, the fiscal deficit to temporarily be beyond the target set during the last Budget before reverting to the fiscal consolidation path.

In its report issued on Thursday, it said the fiscal deficit was targeted to be at 3% to GDP in 2020. 

The consolidation will be achieved through a multi-pronged approach towards strengthening fiscal management.
