KUALA LUMPUR: HSS Engineers Bhd’s (HEB) associate company HSS Integrated Sdn Bhd (HSSI) has clinched a RM41.32mil contract to provide construction supervision for several sections of the West Coast Expressway (WCE) in Selangor.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Monday, the engineering and project management services provider said these four stretches were Section 1 (Banting Interchange – SKVE Interchange), Section 2 (SKVE Interchange - SAE Interchange), Section 6 (Kapar Interchange – Assam Jawa Interchange) and Section 7 (Assam Jawa Interchange - Tanjung Karang Interchange).
The award was given by IJMC-KEB, a 70:30 joint venture between IJM Construction Sdn Bhd and Kumpulan Europlus Bhd that is WCE’s turnkey/engineering, procurement and construction contractor.
HEB, which made its ACE market debut last week, said the job was expected to be completed within 39 to 41 months from cthe start of construction works.
The contract is in addition to HSSI’s existing appointment for the provision of engineering design for WCE from Tanjung Karang to Banting and construction supervision for WeCE Sections 3 and 5.
“Pursuant to the exclusive teaming arrangement between HSSI and HEB’s wholly-owned subsidiary HSS Engineering Sdn Bhd (HSSE), HSSI and HSSE will be collaborating exclusively to execute and complete the contract,” HEB said.
In a separate filing, HEB said there would be no material impact on HEB’s order book and the group’s future earnings arising from the legal suit by MRCB Engineering sdn Bhd against 30%-owned HSSI and/or termination of HEB’s existing contracts with the Malaysian Resources Corp Bhd (MRCB) group.
It noted that as at May 31, the total unbilled amounts from HEB’s existing contracts with the MRCB group was only RM3.5mil.
“This represents less than 1.0% of HEB’s total order book of RM365.9mil,” it said, responding to a business weekly’s report on the potential termination of HEB from the MRCB group’s existing contracts.
“The appointment to provide project management services for the Kwasa Damansara township development is by Kwasa Land Sdn Bhd (a wholly-owned subsidiary of Employees Provident Fund) and LRT 3 project is not part of HEB’s order book,” the company added.
HEB shares fell 5 sen to close at 60.5 sen on Monday with 17.246 million shares changing hands.
