New Peugeot 508 set to be big contributors to Nasim

Launch of Peugeot 508 at Peugeot Glenmarie

SHAH ALAM: Local Peugeot vehicle distributor Nasim Sdn Bhd is upbeat on the new Peugeot 508 model and is looking at monthly sales of 80 to 90 units.

“Although the overall automotive market looks soft, the demand for European brand remains strong,” chief operating officer Datuk Samson Anand George said at the launch of the vehicle at the Peugeot Glenmarie centre here yesterday.

He said the new 508 model came with cutting-edge styling and high levels of technology, efficiency, safety and driving dynamics.

Samson said the outgoing 508 model accounted for a 16% share of Nasim’s Peugeot year-to-date sales.

“We expect the new 508 to contribute significantly to Nasim’s total sales target of 6,000 units this year,” he said.

As of last month, the Peugeot brand has a 15% share in the local European car segment.

The new 508 is longer than the previous model and has a revised front and grille, as well as new equipment such as LED head and tail lamps, LED daytime running lights and satellite navigation.

The 508 is sold in three variants of 1.6-litre turbo petrol sedan, 1.6-litre turbo petrol station wagon and 2.2-litre turbo diesel GT sedan.

All variants are equipped with a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters and sport mode.

Tentative prices are RM175,000 for the turbo petrol sedan, RM185,000 for the station wagon and RM205,000 for the turbo diesel sedan,

Safety features include a rigid body structure, six airbags, anti-lock braking system, dynamic stability control and blind spot information system.
