KUALA LUMPUR: Here is a recap of the announcements that made headlines in Corporate Malaysia.

Geohan Corporation secured a RM37.0mn contract from Chin Hin Property (Segambut) Sdn Bhd for earthworks, piling and substructure works for a Kuala Lumpur residential project.

MNRB Holdings obtained Bank Negara Malaysia approval to acquire an 80% stake in Labuan Reinsurance for US$100.7mn (RM400.5mn), subject to final approval from the Labuan Financial Services Authority before completion.

Asteel Group received a takeover offer from businessman Clifford Hii, who plans to acquire a controlling 53% stake at 7.5 sen per share while maintaining the company’s listing status on Bursa Malaysia.

Sorento Capital will transfer from Bursa Malaysia’s ACE Market to the Main Market on 28 August, remaining under the consumer products and services sector with no changes to its stock code or name.

WCE Holdings said it will evaluate any formal proposal relating to the Southern Link extension of the West Coast Expressway, assessing funding, policy considerations, development frameworks and overall project implications before deciding.

Khee San’s largest shareholder, Datuk Seri Ngu Tieng Ung, resigned as executive chairman for personal reasons, shortly after six bank accounts of a subsidiary were frozen under an anti-money laundering investigation.

Pestec International confirmed a fraud and conspiracy lawsuit against former senior executives and two China-based suppliers over alleged inflated invoices, questionable transactions and an unauthorised corporate guarantee absent from audited records.

KLK posted a 3QFY26 pre-tax loss of RM1.1bn and net loss of RM1.3bn after recognising a RM1.6bn impairment on its investment in Synthomer plc, overshadowing otherwise operating performance.

Sime Darby Property doubled 2QFY26 net profit to RM322.0mn as revenue rose 9.3% to RM1.2bn, supported by property development and data centre lease income, while raising its dividend payout policy.

Sunway Construction reported a 23.5% rise in 2QFY26 net profit to RM103.6mn despite lower revenue, while securing RM6.9bn of new jobs year-to-date and raising its FY26 order replenishment target.

Matrix Concepts achieved RM416.7mn in 1QFY27 property sales, up 9.2%, driven by Sendayan Developments and growing contributions from MVV City, which management identified as a key future growth catalyst.

Zetrix AI recorded a 35.2% increase in 2QFY26 net profit to RM269.3mn as revenue climbed 38.6% to RM426.7mn, with strong momentum continuing throughout the first half of FY26.

Batu Kawan swung to a 3QFY26 net loss of RM653.2mn due mainly to KLK’s RM1.6bn impairment on Synthomer plc, although revenue improved on stronger plantation and manufacturing segment contributions.

Guan Chong reported a fivefold surge in 2QFY26 net profit to RM253.0mn, driven by disciplined raw material procurement and cocoa sales management that significantly improved margins and overall profitability.

Ajinomoto Malaysia saw 1QFY27 net profit decline 3.9% to RM23.2mn as weaker export demand, a softer US dollar and geopolitical disruptions in the Middle East affected overall revenue performance.

Cahya Mata Sarawak postponed commissioning of its Samalaju yellow phosphorus plant to 4QFY26 due to equipment issues, while returning to profitability in 2QFY26 with RM22.4mn on stronger cement, property and maintenance contributions.
