Myanmar repatriates seven foreigners linked to telecom fraud and cybercrime hubs

YANGON: Myanmar authorities handed over seven foreign nationals involved in illegal online gambling and telecom scam operations to their respective home countries via the Myanmar-Thailand Friendship Bridge No. 2 in Myawaddy.

The individuals—two from Laos, two from Sri Lanka, and one each from Nigeria, Indonesia, and India—had entered Myanmar illegally through border crossings to operate in the Myawaddy–Shwe Kokko area. Local administrative officials, Myanmar immigration authorities, and embassy representatives from the concerned nations coordinated the legal transfer alongside Thai immigration officials.

Authorities noted that Myanmar continues to cooperate with neighbouring nations and international bodies to dismantle scam networks, hold foreign ringleaders accountable and expedite the repatriation of victims of human trafficking caught in these illicit hubs. - Eleven Media/ANN
