150,000 LED bulbs and 10,000 wooden lanterns light up forest park in Hokkaido

HIROO; About 150,000 LED bulbs and 10,000 wooden lanterns illuminate Daimaruyama Forest Park in Hiroo, Hokkaido, creating a festive atmosphere.

The town is the first location outside Norway — and the only one in Japan — to be designated a “Santa Land” by Oslo, the hometown of Santa Claus. At Saturday’s opening ceremony, Hiroo Mayor Yasuaki Tanaka, dressed as Santa Claus, said the town would continue spreading the spirit of dreams, hope and gratitude throughout Japan and around the world.

The event runs from 4pm to 10pm until March 31. - Japan News/ANN
