Teen arrested over the killing of six-year-old boy in Bangladesh


DHAKA: Police arrested a teenager in connection with the murder of a six-year-old boy in Nandail upazila of Mymensingh on Thursday (Sept 17).

The incident occurred around 10.30am on Thursday at the Charbhelamari village.

Citing the family, Md Abdullah Al Mamun, additional superintendent of police in Mymensingh, said the accused 15-year-old allegedly tried to sexually assault the six-year-old after he took the child to his house.

The accused then allegedly stabbed the boy’s throat with a knife when the victim screamed and then hit his abdomen with a crowbar. The child died on the spot.

The accused then allegedly wrapped the body in cloth and hid it in the bathroom. Family members, unable to find the child, searched the area and discovered the body there.

Police recovered the body in the afternoon and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College morgue for autopsy. The teenager was arrested at the scene.

The Additional SP said the victim’s father lodged a case against the teenager on Thursday night. - The Daily Star/ANN
