YGold appoints Dr Haji Zaharudin Abd Rahman as Shariah Advisor

YGold, a popular gold brand among Malaysians, has appointed Dr Zaharudin Abd Rahman, the Managing Director of Elzar Shariah & Technology Solution, as its Shariah Advisor. 

The signing ceremony and presentation of the appointment letter between Dr Zaharuddin Abd Rahman and YGold Executive Chairman, Zahrin Ibrahim, took place recently on Saturday (Aug 29) at YGold Kuala Lumpur.

Commenting on the appointment, YGold Chief Executive Officer, Tuan Shahfizzam Moideen, said: “YGold appointed Dr Zaharuddin as its Shariah advisor to strengthen customer confidence and enhance public understanding of the importance of Shariah compliance in gold transactions.”

“This appointment was made based on his expertise and extensive experience in Islamic finance, muamalat, and gold transactions. In this role, he will provide Shariah guidance and advice to ensure that YGold’s operations, business structure and gold transactions are carried out in accordance with Shariah principles.”

Meanwhile, Shahfizzam also described Shariah compliance as a crucial aspect of conducting a transparent gold business.

“Shariah compliance is not merely a form of recognition, but rather serves as a fundamental pillar in building a business that is transparent, ethical and trustworthy.

“Through this appointment, YGold hopes to further enhance customers’ understanding of Shariah principles in gold transactions, while ensuring that every transaction is carried out responsibly and with integrity,” he added.

Recently, YGold also held its second Mega Festival at YGold Kuala Lumpur from Aug 28 to Aug 30. The event was previously held at YGold Kajang, where YGold achieved sales amounting to RM1.2 million.

The event was initiated by Shahfizzam, who is always committed to delivering the best for YGold.

As for the event venue, YGold Kuala Lumpur is the company’s third branch and has been in operation since 22 May 2026. Among the services offered are the sale of new and pre-owned gold, gold bars, purchasing of pawn tickets, as well as gold buyback and trade-in services.
