MANILA: The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) said that 39 Filipino seafarers aboard two vessels in the Black Sea are safe following reported Ukrainian drone attacks near Novorossiysk, Russia.
The DMW said it received confirmation on August 22 from the principal or shipowner, through its licensed manning agency, that all 17 Filipino crew members of the MV Anna S were unhurt.
So were the 22 Filipino crew members of the MV Elina B, which came under attack after rescuing the crew of the MV Anna S on Aug. 17, the DMW added.
A Filipino seafarer from the MV Anna S, on the other hand, is in stable condition at a hospital in Turkiye, where he is being treated for a separate medical concern.
The DMW said the principal or shipowner and its port team had provided immediate assistance to the affected crew. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
