Heavy rain prompts flood warning


THE State Flood Con­trol and Drought Relief Headquarters has activa­ted a Level-IV emergency res­ponse for flood control for the provinces of Anhui and Shandong, accor­ding to a statement made by the Ministry of Emergency Manage-ment (MEM).

According to meteorological authorities, heavy rain is expec­ted in parts of northern-central Anhui Province and central-­ sou­thern Shandong Province ­yesterday and today, the MEM statement said.

Some areas in northern Anhui and southern Shandong may experience torrential rain, accor­ding to the statement.

Hourly rainfall in these areas is forecast to range from 30mm to 60mm, with some areas potentially exceeding 90mm.

On Sunday, the Drought Relief Headquarters and the MEM convened a joint consultation with multiple departments, noting that, affected by Typhoon Maysak, heavy rainfall will continue across south China and the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River.

Rainfall is forecast to become more frequent and intense across northern China.
