Roadside argument turns fatal as Delhi Police constable shoots wife dead in Kalyanpuri, flees


Delhi Police constable Manish Bhati is accused of allegedly shooting his wife dead following a roadside argument in Kalyanpuri on Sunday evening. Police have launched a manhunt to trace him.

 

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police constable is on the run after allegedly shooting his wife dead in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri following an argument while the couple was travelling on a scooter, police said.

Investigators said the constable, Manish Bhati, allegedly stopped the scooter during the altercation, opened fire on his wife and fled the scene. Police have launched a search operation and are examining CCTV footage to track the accused.

Woman rushed to hospital by passers-by

The shooting took place on a public road on Sunday (July 12) evening.

According to police, four to five people who witnessed the incident rushed the injured woman to a nearby hospital in an autorickshaw. Doctors later declared her dead.

The accused remains absconding. Police teams are scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding area as part of the investigation. Further details are awaited. - The Statesman/ANN
