Brunei Sultan presents house keys to 300 National Housing Scheme recipients

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Three hundred families received the keys to their new homes under the National Housing Scheme from Sultan Hassanal at a ceremony held at the BRIDEX Conference Hall in Jerudong on Monday (July 6)

The presentation ceremony reflected the Government’s continued efforts to provide affordable and quality housing for Bruneian citizens.

Shortly after officiating the presentation ceremony, His Majesty proceeded to visit Jerudong Primary School, Cluster 4, in Kampong Jerudong.

Jerudong Primary School was established in 1955 with an initial enrolment of 25 pupils. A permanent school building was constructed in 1957. The school currently has 406 pupils, supported by 60 teachers and 11 staff members.

The Sultan then visited EVYD Technology Sdn Bhd in Kampong Jerudong. The company utilises innovative technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to enhance healthcare quality and systems. Established on April 27, 2020, the company employs 65 staff, of whom 53 are locals.

Following the visit, the monarch proceeded to the homes of two recipients of terrace houses under the Kampong Lugu National Housing Scheme.

To conclude the day’s programme, the Sultan proceeded to the Royal Berkshire Hall at Tarindak D’ Polo, Jerudong, for a luncheon.

Through the Housing Development Department, His Majesty’s Government continues to implement various initiatives and efforts to ensure that citizens have access to proper housing, in line with the Second Goal of Wawasan Brunei 2035, which aspires to achieve a high quality of life. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
