BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Over 700 residents of the RPN Kampong Lumut area joined the ‘Kampongku Cergas Walk, Cycling, and Running’ event on Sunday (June 21) in conjunction with the National Family Day celebration.

Village Head of RPN Lumut Area 3 Rosli Jais explained that the event aimed to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among residents of Mukim Liang as well as across the district.

He added that the programme adopted a format similar to Bandarku Ceria, where the participants were provided with designated routes comprising roads closed to motor vehicles between 7am and 9.30am to join the walking, running and cycling activities.

The event also aimed to strengthen community ties and foster a spirit of togetherness among village residents, village heads, government agencies, private sector organisations, and the public.

Organised by the Village Consultative Council of RPN Kampong Lumut, the programme also promotes Mukim Liang and its surrounding communities as a suitable destination for recreational activities, community sports, and local tourism.

“Another objective was to raise public awareness of safer, more organised alternative cycling routes within the RPN Lumut area that are suitable for cyclists and family recreational activities,” he added.

Acting Belait District Officer Haji Amirol Hafidzin Muhammad was the guest of honour.

Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Mohammad Abdullah @ Lim Swee Ann, who also serves as Village Head of Kampong Bukit Sawat, was in attendance.
