BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Brunei Darussalam on Saturday (June 20) launched the Visit Brunei Year 2027 logo and mascots – ‘Awang’ and ‘Dayang’, as well as the campaign identity during the pre-launch ceremony of Visit Brunei Year 2027 (VBY2027) at Jerudong Park Garden.
The event was graciously attended by His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Mateen, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Anak Isteri Anisha Rosnah Adam.
Upon arrival, His Royal Highness and Yang Amat Mulia were received by Coordinating Minister for Economic Policies and Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Setia Dr Abdul Manaf Metussin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pengiran Datuk Seri Setia Shamhary Pengiran Datuk Paduka Mustapha and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Public Service Governance) Datuk Seri Setia Awang Nazmi Awang Mohamad as Co-Chairs of the Visit Brunei Year 2027 Steering Committee, and Minister of Foreign Affairs II Datuk Seri Setia Awang Erywan Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Mohd Yusof.
The ceremony commenced with welcoming remarks by Dr Abdul Manaf in his capacity as Co-Chair of the Visit Brunei Year 2027 Steering Committee.
He highlighted the significance of VBY2027 as a whole-of-nation initiative aimed at strengthening the tourism sector, supporting economic diversification and showcasing Brunei Darussalam’s unique identity to the world.
The minister also emphasised the importance of strong collaboration between government agencies, industry players, local communities and strategic partners in ensuring the success of the campaign, while encouraging all stakeholders to play an active role in creating memorable visitor experiences and showcasing the very best of Brunei Darussalam to regional and international audiences.
A key highlight of the evening was the officiating ceremony by His Royal Highness, during which the official logo and mascots were unveiled, marking the commencement of promotional efforts leading up to the national tourism campaign across domestic and international platforms.
Guests were presented with a special showcase featuring the official VBY2027 theme song and destination video, celebrating the nation’s rich culture, pristine natural environment and diverse tourism experiences.
The showcase culminated with a drone performance portraying the VBY2027 logo, mascots and several iconic attractions and landmarks of Brunei Darussalam.
His Royal Highness and Yang Amat Mulia also visited the Visit Brunei Year 2027 Calendar of Events Showcase, which highlighted the Diamond Jubilee Celebration as one of the signature events of the year, alongside a preview of key tourism, cultural, sporting, lifestyle and business events planned throughout 2027.
The comprehensive calendar is currently being developed and will be promoted through both domestic and international channels, offering compelling reasons for visitors to discover and experience Brunei Darussalam throughout the year.
The pre-launch ceremony was also attended by Deputy Minister of Finance Pengiran Datin Seri Paduka Zety Sufina Pengiran Datuk Paduka Sani as Deputy Co-Chair of Visit Brunei Year 2027 Steering Committee, as well as members of the Visit Brunei Year 2027 Steering Committee, ambassadors and high commissioners, strategic partners, tourism stakeholders, and members of the media.
The event marked the beginning of a series of domestic and international promotional campaign initiatives leading up to 2027.
Following the pre-launch, Brunei Darussalam will continue its marketing efforts at Travel Meet Asia 2026 in Jakarta, Indonesia from June 23 to 24, 2026, where Brunei Darussalam has been appointed as the Official Destination Partner.
The event will serve as an important platform to introduce VBY2027 to regional and international tourism stakeholders, while strengthening partnerships and promoting Brunei Darussalam as a preferred travel destination in Southeast Asia.
The VBY2027 reflects the government of His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s continued commitment to strengthening the tourism sector as a key contributor to economic diversification while enhancing Brunei Darussalam’s visibility and competitiveness within the global tourism landscape. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
