HANOI: Vietnam targets to secure more investment from developed countries and attract leading global technology enterprises under a resolution recently issued by the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, the Vietnam News Agency reported Saturday (June 13).

The document describes the foreign-invested sector as an important component of the national economy and targets 75 per cent of foreign investment from developed economies with strengths in technology, capital and modern management by 2030, according to the report.

Vietnam also seeks to attract at least three of the world's leading technology companies to establish headquarters, offices and research and development centres, while drawing foreign firms with core and specialised technologies capable of integrating deeply into global value chains.

It sets a goal of making Vietnam one of Asean's leading destinations for high-quality foreign investment projects by 2030, backed by improvements in business climate, competitive edge, innovation capacity and public services, according to the report.

By 2045, the country aims to develop a sustainable and well-integrated foreign-invested sector, supporting its target of becoming a competitive regional hub for manufacturing, services, innovation and business operations, with the sector contributing about 30 perc ent of the gross domestic product.

Priority domains for foreign investment include electronics, semiconductors and digital devices, artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, blockchain and advanced biotechnology and biomedicine, green industries and other high-value-added services, the report added. - Xinhua
