Mandopop empress G.E.M jives KL with a momentous concert and sends 56,000 fans into a frenzy in Bukit Jalil

The Asian superstar with the most stadium shows in a single tour made a monumental return to Malaysia with a record 56,000 fans grooving for her at the venue.

Mandopop’s reigning empress, G.E.M. (Gloria Tang), made a monumental return to Malaysia with a record-breaking, sold-out spectacle at the TM National Stadium Bukit Jalil on Saturday (June 6).

This year, G.E.M. promised to elevate her concert experience to new heights with the G.E.M. I AM GLORIA World Tour 2.0, and that she did in Bukit Jalil on Saturday.

On Saturday, Malaysia's historic venue that hosted the 1998 Commonwealth Games and countless other international events, the TM National Stadium Bukit Jalil, was transformed into an epic arena of light and sound. Version 2.0 was not just a concert; it is an evolutionary leap in stage production — a sprawling, cinematic masterpiece designed to deliver a sensory resonance like never before.

Since its launch in 2023, the I AM GLORIA World Tour 1.0 has spanned Asia, Europe, and the Americas, repeatedly achieving remarkable milestones with sold-out shows in arenas of over ten thousand seats. With this tour, G.E.M. ranked Top Two in global female artists’ single-tour box office history.

As of now, including the current show, the tour has reached 158 performances, with 143 held in stadiums, continuing to set the record as the Asian artist with the most stadium shows in a single tour.

Following her record-breaking 2025 performance at Kuala Lumpur National Stadium, which set a new attendance record for a female Mandopop artist, G.E.M. returned to Kuala Lumpur with a super bang with the upgraded 2.0 version of the tour.

This stop was not only one of the most anticipated by fans across South-East Asia but also marks an important milestone in G.E.M.’s journey of crowning her musical glory.

From the opening moment, the 2.0 stage captivated with striking visual elements, including a regal scepter motif, a colossal mechanical lion, a gemstone-inspired extended runway, immersive laser matrices, pyrotechnics, and dynamic 4D effects.

Through meticulous stage design, lighting architecture, and sonic craftsmanship, the production vividly brought to life the journey and spiritual core embodied by “GLORIA.”

Throughout the journey of the I AM GLORIA World Tour, G.E.M. has opened her heart to her fans time and again. Today, she is no longer just “Get Everybody Moving” — the G.E.M. fans knew — but also “GLORIA,” someone who has witnessed the light and now seeks to reflect it outward.

As she often tells her fans on stage: “When you feel lonely, remember — you are not alone.” And she proved it again on Saturday. Through her music, Gloria said she will continue to share the power and warmth embodied in “I AM GLORIA” with her fans. The concert was jointly presented by Maybank and CHJ Jewelry, organised by TopTop Productions, and co-organised by Star Planet.

For the record, she is the first female singer to headline concerts at all five major stadiums in China, the Asian artist with the most stadium shows in a single tour, and she ranks second globally among female singers in tour revenue.

G.E.M.’s career milestones include winning the 2020 Golden Melody Award for Best Album with “City Zoo” and being recognized as Spotify’s most-streamed Chinese female artist globally. In 2021, her music video for “Light Years Away” set the Guinness World Record as the most-watched Chinese music video on YouTube. The following year, she redefined traditional album releases with “Revelation”, a groundbreaking release featuring a 14-episode music video series.
