Football fans clash at Mandalay beer shop while watching Champions League final

MANDALAY, Myanmar: A fight broke out among football fans watching a match at a beer shop in Mandalay on the night of May 30.

The incident occurred at a restaurant in Chanayethazan Township, where customers reportedly got into a physical altercation while watching a football match together.

A video circulating on social media showed football supporters punching and arguing with each other, while wearing jerseys of the teams they supported.

When contacted for confirmation, an employee from the shop where the incident took place said: “It is true that customers fought with each other while watching the football match at our shop last night. We are only staff members, so we do not know whether a police case has been opened.”

A police official from the relevant township station also said: “Another fight also happened at a different beer shop last night and a complaint was filed at the police station. That case was just a normal dispute and not related to football. As for the fight that broke out while watching the football match, no report has been filed yet. The shop is located within Chanayethazan Township.”
