Brunei CPI up 0.1 per cent in April

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Brunei's Consumer Price Index (CPI) increased by 0.1 per cent in April 2026 compared to the same month in 2025, mainly driven by higher food prices.

This was announced by the country's Department of Economic Planning and Statistics (DEPS) under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, local media reported on Tuesday.

DEPS stated on Monday that the rise was largely attributed to a 0.8 percent increase in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index, while the Non-Food index recorded a decline of 0.1 percent.

On a month-on-month basis, the CPI in April rose by 0.5 percent from March, mainly driven by a 0.7 percent increase in the Non-Food index.
