MANILA: Forty-six areas across the country are forecast to experience dangerous heat indices on Friday (May 15), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Heat index is the “apparent temperature” when relative humidity is factored into the air temperature, decreasing the body’s ability to cool itself.
A heat index ranging from 42 to 51°C falls under the danger category.
Meanwhile, up to 44°C is expected in Tuguegarao City, Cagayan; Munoz, Nueva Ecija; San Ildefonso, Bulacan; Camiling, Tarlac; Hacienda Luisita, Tarlac City; Sangley Point, Cavite City and Borongan and Guiuan, Eastern Samar.
Dominguez advised the public to avoid staying outdoors from noon until afternoon, but if unavoidable, to bring protection against the heat, wear light-colored shirts, and stay hydrated. - Philippine Daily Inquirer/ANN
