Arguing couple set clothes on fire, destroying two houses in Myanmar's Myitkyina Township


YANGON: A fire broke out after a couple in Myitkyina Township, Kachin State, set clothes on fire after an argument, that caused two homes to be razed.

The incident occurred at approximately 3.20pm on Friday (May 8), when a couple had an argument in a house on Aung Maw Zan Monastery Road, Area (1), Auk Maw Fong Village. The husband set fire to his clothes, which spread to a nearby wall.

The fire destroyed two single-storey housing units.

Firefighters from Myitkyina District/Township, reserve forces, and members of the Air Force responded to the scene of the fire with a firefighting vehicle, and the fire was extinguished after 20 minutes.

The Myitkyina Police Station has filed a case under Section 436 of the Penal Code (Pa) 80/2026 against U La Taung, 40, who allegedly set the fire. - Eleven Media/ANN
