Lao New Year 2026 celebrations highlight national traditions in full force


VIENTIANE, April 13 (Xinhua) -- Lao authorities are preparing for the Lao New Year celebrations, focusing on preserving national traditions and promoting tourism.

The Department of Culture and Tourism of Vientiane, capital of Laos, under the Lao Ministry of Culture and Tourism, has emphasized that this year's celebrations aim to highlight the city's rich cultural heritage.

The government also announced that the event is providing an enjoyable experience for both domestic and international tourists, according to the Lao Security News report on Monday.

Officials encourage temples, cultural institutions, and major tourist sites to collaborate in organizing traditional activities.

The Lao New Year is the most important festival in the Lao calendar. This year's holiday will be observed from April 14 (Tuesday) to April 16. -- Xinhua
