Two slight earthquakes strike Myanmar


YANGON: Two slight earthquakes measuring 4.5 and 4.1 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar on April 10, according to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH).

The first quake, with a magnitude of 4.5, occurred at around 2:32 am in the interior of Myanmar, about 13 kilometres south-southeast of Leshi and 89 miles north-northeast of the Tamu Seismological Station.

It was recorded at a depth of 60 kilometres, with coordinates of 25.34 degrees north latitude and 95.01 degrees east longitude.

The second earthquake, measuring 4.1 in magnitude, struck at approximately 4:10 am the same day.

It occurred about 51 kilometres west-southwest of Mongpyin and 108 kilometres west of the Kengtung Seismological Station, at a depth of 11 kilometers, with coordinates of 21.22 degrees north latitude and 98.55 degrees east longitude, the DMH reported. - Eleven Media/ANN
