No happy ending: Immigration busts massage outlets with 'extra services' in JB

JOHOR BARU: The Immigration Department has busted two massage outlets which offered “additional services” to customers with extra charges.

Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said 21 foreign workers were detained in the raids that started at around 3pm on Thursday (April 9).

“The businesses were believed to be involved in immoral activities and employed foreigners without valid documents.

“At first glance, the outlets offered standard massage services starting at RM80 per hour, while any extra services were negotiated privately in rooms between customers and workers for additional payment.

“Customers were not allowed to choose their masseuse and any additional services would be discussed inside the room,” he said in a statement on Saturday (April 11).

Mohd Rusdi said a total of 21 men and women from Myanmar and China, aged 18 to 41, who worked there as masseuses, were detained for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and Immigration Regulations 1963.

A local man, believed to be the manager of the premises, was also detained during the raid, he said, adding that seven summonses were issued to witnesses to assist in the investigation.

All detainees have been placed at the Setia Tropika immigration depot for further investigation and action.
