JAKARTA: (Bernama) Indonesia has recovered Rp11.42 trillion through administrative fines and financial enforcement measures in 2026, bringing total recoveries to Rp31.3 trillion as President Prabowo Subianto ramps up measures to safeguard public finances.

Speaking at a handover ceremony at the Attorney General’s Office, Prabowo said the latest recovery reflects intensified action to plug financial leakages and secure government resources.

He said the total included about Rp13 trillion (RM3 billion) recovered in October 2025 from a corruption case involving crude palm oil (CPO) export facilities and related derivatives, followed by Rp6.625 trillion (RM1.54 billion) in December 2025, and a further Rp11.42 trillion handed over on Friday.

Describing the figure as significant, Prabowo said the recovered funds could be used to repair 34,000 schools across Indonesia and renovate more than 500,000 houses for low-income communities, benefiting around 2 million people.

"With this, the total cash that we have successfully saved up to today is Rp31.3 trillion,” he said, in remarks broadcast live on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube account on Friday (April 10).

Prabowo said the task force had regained control of state assets in forest areas valued at around Rp370 trillion (RM86 billion), equivalent to nearly 10 per cent of the state budget (APBN).

"If we calculate Rp370 trillion, we could estimate that all schools across Indonesia could be repaired, made modern, equipped with digitalisation, with smart digital screens. We could repair sanitation facilities in all our schools. We could build thousands of bridges in villages,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to members of the task force, noting that some had faced threats and intimidation in carrying out their duties, and warned that any attempt to obstruct the task force would be treated as a challenge to the presidency.

The president also called on law enforcement agencies to act firmly against smuggling, illegal mining and other unlawful activities.

"We will not stop, we will not be afraid, and we will move forward to defend the nation and the state,” he said. - Bernama
