KATHMANDU: (Bernama-Xinhua) -- Arrest warrants have been issued against Nepal's former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba and his wife Arzu Rana Deuba on charges of money laundering, an official said on Thursday (April 9), reported Xinhua.

The Kathmandu District Court issued the warrants following a plea from the Department of Money Laundering Investigation.

"The district court has issued arrest warrants against the Deuba couple. However, they remain abroad," an officer from the department told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

A probe commission formed to investigate state atrocities, arson, and destruction during last September's Gen Z protest had also recommended that the government probe the property of the Deuba family. - Bernama-Xinhua
