HANOI  (Xinhua): Vietnam on Friday inaugurated the Vietnam National Space Centre at Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park in the capital Hanoi, according to local daily Tien Phong.

The newly opened facility houses several key components, including an operations hub, a satellite data exploitation and application unit, a satellite research and development division, a manufacturing unit, and a ground system equipped with a 9.3‑metre‑diameter antenna.

Built on an area of nine hectares, the centre is considered one of the most advanced facilities in South-East Asia in terms of scale and technological level, local media VnExpress reported.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said the project marks Vietnam's transition from laying the groundwork to the stage of operation, utilisation, and gradually mastering space technologies. - Xinhua
