LONDON (Xinhua): "One Battle After Another" emerged as the biggest winner at this year's British Academy Film Awards, or BAFTAs, securing the best picture prize along with multiple other honours during a ceremony held in London on Sunday evening.

The film, in which Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio plays a washed-up revolutionary, also claimed the awards of best director, best supporting actor, best editing, best cinematography and best adapted screenplay.

Hamnet, which is adapted from a historical fiction novel reimagining the life and death of William Shakespeare's son, Hamnet, claimed two honours, including best actress for Irish performer Jessie Buckley and outstanding British film, after the Oscar front-runner won the best movie drama prize of the Golden Globes last month.

British actor Robert Aramayo, who had wrapped up his final stage performance just a day earlier in the tear-jerker play "Guess How Much I Love You?" at London's Royal Court Theatre, proved to be one of the ceremony's notable surprises.

He went on to win both the Leading Actor award and the public-voted rising star award for portraying a man living with Tourette syndrome in the comedy "I Swear," which also received the best casting award.

Donna Langley, chairman of NBCUniversal Entertainment, was presented a BAFTA Fellowship, the organisation's highest honour by British Prince of Wales William, also the president of BAFTA, at the ceremony.

"Our creative industries are one of this country's greatest strengths, and I will continue to celebrate and support the talent that makes them shine globally in my role as President of BAFTA," the prince said. - Xinhua
