Brunei, China universities sign partnership to advance collaboration

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) and Chongqing University (CQU) officially strengthened their institutional partnerships through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday (Jan 28).

The MoU was signed by Vice-Chancellor of UBD Dr Hazri Kifle, and Vice-President of CQU Professor Dr Jun Yang.

The signing was also witnessed by Assistant Vice-Chancellor (Research, Innovation and Sustainability) of UBD Dr Abdul Hanif Dato Paduka Mahadi, and Deputy Secretary-General of University Network of Research Cooperation (iUNRC), Vice Director of the International Office and Vice Dean of the Institute of Science and Technology Development, CQU Professor Dr Hui Xie.

UBD said that the signing marks an important milestone in strengthening institutional ties between UBD and CQU, reinforcing shared commitment to advancing academic excellence, research collaboration, and international engagement.

The MoU provides a broad framework for cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including academic exchange, joint research initiatives, and collaborative activities that support innovation and capacity building.

The partnership strengthens collaborative efforts and reflects both universities’ aspirations in contributing meaningfully to sustainable development, future-oriented research, and global knowledge networks.

The MoU underscores UBD’s continued commitment to expanding its global partnerships and strengthening its role as a leading research-intensive university in the region, all in alignment with Wawasan Brunei 2035. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
