Top gaming platform Honor of Kings unleashes Puteri Gunung Ledang, led by the ever-elegant Mimifly's new single 'Nara'

In celebration of Merdeka month, the world’s most-played mobile MOBA, Honor of Kings (HOK), and leading local label Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia, spotlight Malaysia’s vibrant arts and cultural heritage through an exciting collaboration with celebrated Malaysian singer, songwriter, and music producer Mimifly, who returns with her powerful new single “Nara”.

From the rhythm of gamelan to the beauty of pantun and folklore, the new Merdeka-themed content seamlessly blends tradition with innovation —  and further reinforces HOK’s broader commitment to celebrating South-East Asian creativity and storytelling on a global stage.

"Games have become one of the most dynamic spaces for culture and creativity to thrive," said YB Adam Adli, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia.

"As our young people explore new ways to tell stories and express themselves, this collaboration between Honor of Kings and Mimifly proves that games can carry the heartbeat of national pride, heritage, and imagination. It is a shining example of Malaysia’s creative energy, from music to mythology, standing tall in the modern world."

“Nara”, A Soundtrack of Malaysian Pride

The celebration kicks off with the release of “Nara”, Mimifly’s latest single under Sony Music Entertainment. Inspired by the legendary “Puteri Gunung Ledang”, the track draws inspiration from the beautiful, wise, authoritative, and strategic woman, and blends courage and strategy into a powerful anthem. “Nara” is available for streaming on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube Music from 15 August 2025.

Mimifly explained that the inspiration for “Nara” is rooted in the symbol of resilience and precision embodied by a “srikandi” (female warrior), echoing HOK’s narrative of legendary warriors battling in epic arenas.

“It’s been an honour for me to compose “Nara". Through this song, I wanted to capture the spirit of “Puteri Gunung Ledang” — wisdom, courage, and grace — and translate that energy into music that awakens the warrior within us,” said Mimifly. “To me, real strength comes not just from power, but from the mind and the heart.”

“I also included my signature sign language in the video as a symbol of unity and inclusion. To everyone, gamer or not, I hope this song sparks the drive to keep moving forward and be the best version of yourself.”

The track blends pop and hip-hop with Mimifly’s signature Nusantara musical influences, resulting in a sound that feels both contemporary and rooted in tradition. The song — entirely composed by Mimifly herself, together with the production team from PriiBoMii is built around hypnotic, “chant-like” hooks designed to awaken the warrior spirit in every listener.

“At Sony Music Entertainment, we’ve always believed in the power of music to tell stories and connect cultures,” said Ally Siw, Senior Director, Domestic, Marketing & Partnerships, Sony Music Malaysia.

“Working with Mimifly and Honor of Kings on ‘Nara’ allows us to celebrate Malaysia’s rich heritage in a way that feels both authentic and modern. This collaboration is proof that when music, culture, and gaming come together, the impact goes far beyond entertainment — it becomes a shared moment of pride and identity.”

Unveiling Nara: A Heroine Rooted in Myth and Majesty

On 28 August, Honor of Kings introduced a stunning new skin, Puteri Gunung Ledang — a reimagined take on the legendary Malaysian figure, designed with deep cultural references from across the Nusantara. Players can claim the skin for free in-game until 9 September.

The in-game design breathes new life into Malaysian heritage — from 3D-rendered songket fabrics to authentic visual motifs drawn from local mythology. This localisation goes beyond aesthetics — it’s about creating emotional connections, where players see themselves reflected in the stories and characters they love.

“At Level Infinite, we’re deeply committed to creating local-first content that resonates with our communities,” said Eugene Chin, Country Manager, Level Infinite Malaysia.

“This Merdeka update is more than just a visual refresh — it’s a heartfelt celebration of culture, identity, and creative expression. We believe Malaysia’s rich heritage has a powerful story to tell, and we’re proud to help share it with the world through Honor of Kings.”

The celebration will also extend across social media with a #NARAofHOK dance challenge, inviting fans to recreate Mimifly’s iconic moves from the music video — including her unique sign language choreography.

A Merdeka Celebration for the Next Generation

This campaign isn’t just about in-game skins or soundtracks — it’s a movement. A way to celebrate Malaysia’s identity and creativity in spaces where young people gather, connect, and express themselves. With millions of active players worldwide, “Nara” is set to echo far beyond the gaming universe — and on to the global stage.
