Police officer killed in Tasmania shooting incident


SYDNEY: A police officer has been killed in a shooting in the Australian island state of Tasmania, local police reported on Monday (June 16).

Tasmania Police said in a statement that an officer was approaching a house in the state's northwest on Monday morning in relation to routine duties when they were allegedly shot by a member of the public.

The police officer was critically injured and died at the scene. - Xinhua
