Nationwide takbir in Brunei marks Hari Raya Aidiladha

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: His Royal Highness Prince Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, together with His Royal Highness Prince ‘Abdul Malik, joined congregants at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah on Saturday (June 7) to perform the Sunnat Aidiladha prayer.

As Muslims in the country celebrate Hari Raya Aidiladha, takbir recitations in conjunction with this year’s festivities were held at mosques, surau and prayer halls across the country. The focal mosque was Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah in Kampong Kiarong.

In attendance were Minister of Religious Affairs Pehin Udana Khatib Datuk Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Badaruddin Pengiran Datuk Paduka Awang Othman, and Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Datuk Seri Paduka Mohd Tashim Pengiran Hassan.

Also present were Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs (MoRA) Mohammad Rosli Ibrahim; Ra’es of Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB) Associate Professor Dr Abdul Nasir Abdul Rani; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Policy and Religion) at the MoRA Shamshol Omar; Deputy Permanent Secretary (Administration and Finance) at the MoRA Misle Abdul Karim; as well as directors, senior officers and staff of MoRA and its departments.

Organised by MoRA through its Imarah Division, Mosque Affairs Department in collaboration with the Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah Takmir Committee, the ceremony featured a Tadabbur titled ‘Ibrah Disebalik Melontar’ delivered by Ustaz Muskrisman Safari Mustapha, a religious speaker from the Islamic Da’wah Centre (PDI).

Leading the takbir were officers and staff from MoRA; personnel of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, Royal Brunei Police Force and Fire and Rescue Department; Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah; and mosque youth groups from Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque, Kampong Jerudong; Kampong Belimbing Subok Mosque; An-Na’im Mosque, Kampong Panchor Mengkubau; and Youth Al-Quran Reading Scheme (STAR).

The ceremony aimed to enliven the eve of Hari Raya Aidiladha, observed on 10th of Zulhijjah 1446 Hijrah, and to support the titah of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in cultivating a pious community.

It also sought to enhance public appreciation of the spiritual significance of Takbir Hari Raya. - Borneo Bulletin/ANN
