'It's all just rumours' - Philippine president Marcos in good health, says Malacanang

MANILA (Bernama-PNA): Philippine President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr is in good health, the Malacañang Palace assured the public on Friday, according to Philippine News Agency (PNA).

"At least from my perspective, having been with the President personally, the President is in good health,” said Presidential Communications Office Undersecretary and Palace Press Officer Claire Castro at a press briefing.

The clarification came after netizens observed signs of bleeding gums during Marcos’ speech at an event in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City, on Wednesday.

Castro urged the public not to speculate about the President’s health and warned against misinformation.

"Please do not make up stories about the President’s health. That is not good for our country. Instead, we should pray for the continued good health of our leaders,” she said.

She added that if the President were in poor health, he would not be able to carry out his daily duties.

"The public need not worry. The President remains active in fulfilling his responsibilities,” she said.

Castro also pointed out that Marcos has been consistently attending public engagements and private meetings.

"You may have noticed -- even members of the media -- that the President is seen almost daily in his official activities and campaign events under Alyansa. In addition, he continues to hold meetings with us,” she said. - Bernama-PNA
