Myanmar launches youth centre to mark 80th anniversary of Armed Forces Day


Military columns, which will take part in the parade for the 80th Anniversary of Armed Forces Day, which falls on March 27, 2025, taking part in a full-dress rehearsal at the Naypyidaw Parade Ground.

YANGON: Myanmar opened a youth centre in Thakayta township of Yangon region on Sunday (March 23) to mark the 80th anniversary of Armed Forces Day, state-run newspaper The Mirror reported on Monday (March 24).

According to the report, Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Jeng Phang Naw Taung and Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein inaugurated the centre by unveiling its signboard at the press of a button.

The youth centre features a library, an internet room, a meeting room, a training room, an art room, a multipurpose hall, and a sports hall, the report said.

Speaking at the event, the union minister said this is the first youth centre established by the Yangon Region Youth Affairs Committee in the regions and states, it said.

He also emphasised the need to create a practical system for ministries, UN organisations, social groups, community-based organisations, and youth groups to connect and collaborate, the report said.

He also said that efforts are ongoing to establish more youth centres in the regions and states across the country, it added. - Xinhua
