Brunei projects US$1.82bil in revenue from oil and gas in new fiscal year


BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (Xinhua): Brunei's government revenue for the 2025/2026 fiscal year is expected to reach 3.26 billion Brunei dollars (US$2.42 billion U.S. dollars), with 75 pe rcent, or 2.45 billion Brunei dollars (US$1.82 billion) coming from the oil and gas sector, a government minister has announced.

The revenue from the non-oil and gas sector is estimated to be 802.24 million Brunei dollars (US$595.46 million) in the new fiscal year, Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Brunei's minister at the Prime Minister's Office and second minister of Finance and Economy, told a budget deliberation session at the Legislative Council.

Brunei's government has proposed a national budget of 6.35 billion Brunei dollars (US$4.71 billion) for the new fiscal year, which begins on April 1, 2025.

The new budget has three priorities: maintaining public well-being, instilling sustainable economic diversification, and building dynamic and visionary human capital.

Brunei is a South-East Asian country located in the northern part of Borneo Island.
